BACKYARD ULTRA 2020
Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra World Championship 2020 will represent the greatest ‘last person standing’ competition the world has ever seen. Twenty-two nation countries each bringing 15 of their best endurance athletes together for one worldwide competition. Every runner will start – only one will finish! The World Champion will truly be the last person standing on Earth!
The Mexico event for the Big Dog’s Backyard World Championship is an invitation only event. Only the best endurance runners throughout the country will be considered for entry (*those interested should apply directly to the event management team). The event has already secured some of the most legendary endurance athletes in all of Mexico. Please follow along for updates as we release individual runner information.
All races in each country will begin at 7:00 AM Tennessee USA time (6:00 AM Chihuahua Mexico). The first annual Big Dogs Backyard World Championship Mexico will take place at the Parque de Adventura, Barrancas del Cobre, in Chihuahua Mexico . The event will be live streamed with results to a international platform that will aggregate all participating countries feeds into one live digital broadcast for worldwide viewing. The Mexico event will also have several additional broadcast and social media platforms where viewers can follow along with the runners as the hours and kilometers mount and the competition intensifies.

FORMAT:
Last Person Standing.
RULES:
Course
. Loop or out and back
. Must be 4 miles 880 feet in length
. Metric equivalent 6.7056 kilometers
Starting Corral
. Measured to fit entire starting field
. Corral stays the same size thru out the event
. Participants must be in the starting corral at the bell
Starts
. Each loop starts precisely 1 hour after the last
. Warning is be given 3, 2, and 1 minutes prior to start
. All competitors must start at the bell (no late starts)
Loops
. Except for restrooms, competitor may not leave the course until each loop is completed
. No non-competitors on the course (including eliminated runners)
. No personal aid during a loop (common aid stations are allowed)
. Each loop must be completed within an hour to be counted… including the final lap.
. No artificial aids (including trekking poles)
. Slower runners must allow passes.
Timing
. Timing of the loops is optional
Winner/Results (each country event)
. The winner is the last person to complete a loop
. All others are technically DID NOT FINISH (DNF)
. Results of each runner in terms of distance covered are to be given.
. If no runner can complete one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner.
Winner Overall World Championship
The overall World Champion is the person who is the last surviving runner of the last race still running (each individual race is over as soon as there is only one runner and they are the winner only for that country event)
The overall World Champion will truly be the last person on Earth standing. The final 12 runners with the highest total miles will comprise the All World Team.
