BORN TO GRIND
A Gravel Grinder style endurance biking event like no other, in the majestic lands of the Sierra Tarahumara, home to the world’s greatest endurance running athletes. So much more than just a biking race, Born to Grind is an international cycling adventure and cultural travel experience destined to become a ‘Gravel Grinding Pilgrimage’.
All events take place in the heart of the Copper Canyons in North Central Mexico, a mountain and canyon range that is part of the Sierra Occidental. The lands are better known as las Barrancas del Cobre. The area consists of six main canyons that in parts are deeper and wider than the Grand Canyon in the US. The Copper Canyons are home to the Raramuri (Ralimuli - Those who Run or the Light Feet) peoples. The lands are a true treasure that because of the remoteness has remained mostly unspoiled and has retained its beauty and local culture.
All Born to Grind tour events and courses initiate and finish in the Urique Chihuahua Municipal on remote dirt roads and wide gravel paths with riding views of unmatched beauty. You will ride up to the pines and oaks of the Sierra and then back down again to the tropical desert like climate on the Canyon floor. Several of the more gentler miles take place along the ever flowing and twisting Rio Urique allowing you a chance to recover for the next large climb that awaits. The news is good however, as you reach again the top of the Canyon another true ‘hang on and enjoy the flight’ ride back to Urique awaits for the finish.
